1950s Mary Scott Rowland Round Silver Floral Jumbo Compact. This beautiful silver tone compact features a swirling design of embossed flowers. No makeup inside. "Mary Scott Rowland" stamp inside compact lid as well as on powder applicator. Flaws to note: Some areas of the metal around the compact have been scuffed revealing a dark patina. Powder applicator is flaking from age. (See photos). Mary Scott Rowland was an important figure in American cosmetics history! The inventor of the first American compact in the late 1800s. She paved the way for other companies creating the mirror, powder multi-use compact we know and love today! A true collectors item!
